Lib Talkers Given New Radio HQ In D.C.
January 18, 2005

In a move designed to counter the efforts of conservative Talk radio and "level the playing field" in Talk radio, D.C.-based Center For American Progress has opened a broadcasting studio that is set to host a variety of progressive and left-leaning radio personalities during three days of coverage of Thursday's Presidential Inauguration.

The Center, headed by former Bill Clinton Chief Of Staff John Podesta, aims to be a self-described research group "dedicated to promoting a strong, just and free America."

Air America personality Al Franken will broadcast Wednesday and Thursday from Washington.

On inauguration day, Franken will also be joined Jones Radio Networks pundits Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz. The three will broadcast in front of a live studio audience at a D.C. hotel and will be heard locally in the D.C. area on former Sports WWRC-AM, one of three Clear Channel AM outlets that were recently converted to Progressive Talk stations.
