Chief Justice William H Rehnquist has died.

Chief Justice William Hubbs Rehnquist (October 1, 1924–September 3, 2005) was an American jurist and former law clerk and Assistant Attorney General. He was a member of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1972 until his death in 2005, and served as the 16th Chief Justice of the United States since he was elevated from associate justice by President Ronald Reagan in 1986. He was the longest serving Chief Justice since Melville Fuller died in office in 1910.
