Muslims hate our policies, not our freedom

TALKING POINT:

So it turns out Muslims around the world don’t hate our freedom after all… Instead, they hate U-S policies. And I quote, “There is no yearning to be liberated by the US groundswell among Muslim societies. In the eyes of the Muslim world, American occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq has not led to democracy there, but only more chaos and suffering. When American public diplomacy talks about bringing democracy to Islamic societies, this is seen as no more than self-serving hypocrisy.”

Who’s saying all this? Not Al-Jazeera... not the folks at Air America Radio... not even academics... actually, it’s the Pentagon. Specifically, the Defense Science Board.

Hours before you chowed down on turkey last week, you probably missed the release of the Pentagon Defense Science Board report that is hyper-critical of the US policy toward the Muslim world and US military actions in the Middle East.
